Edit a video with no one on camera
Most editors expect a face to cut back to. If your footage is places, objects and moments, tell Simple so, and it stops looking for you.
This guide is for you if
- Travel diaries, food, crafts, products, gardens, cities, anything filmed without a presenter
- A voice-over recorded separately, or added later
Step by step.
- 1. Record the words first, or last
A voice note on your phone is enough. Say what you want to say about what you filmed; pauses and stumbles are trimmed later.
- 2. Start a Simple edit and choose Scenery-led
Under “What’s in your footage?” pick Scenery-led. The edit is then built around your words and your scenery rather than around a person.
- 3. Let the shots breathe
Scenery-led edits hold each shot a little longer. If a moment is too short or too long, pick another shot for it at the video review.
- 4. Approve and download
Listen, approve, watch, approve. Then download the finished video, make other sizes, or take every editable part with you.
Good to know.
What if an edit was started On camera by mistake?
If it stops because too few clips show someone on camera, the studio offers a button that switches the edit to Scenery-led and starts it again.
Your story, finally edited.
Simple is free for seven days. Bring the footage you’ve been meaning to do something with.
